Own arrangements to Brisbane Roma Street Train.
Head west into the heartland of Queensland’s outback. With blue summer skies and rich golden soil to be seen into the horizon, this expedition is the perfect beginning to an outback adventure. The Spirit of the Outback travel experience will take you from Brisbane to the pioneer town of Longreach with historic authentic outback towns along the way.

Day 2/ Wednesday, 5th July 2017 – (B,L)
On arrival into Longreach (7:15pm), you will be greeted by your Kinnon & Co. host, transfer to your hotel.
In the heart of the Queensland Outback, we invite you to explore Australia’s rich heritage with entertaining experiences and genuine insights into pioneer life and our outback world.
You’ll get to see the famous Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and the Qantas Founders Museum plus enjoy all the Kinnon & Co tours. You’ll ride along the old mail route in a Cobb & Co stagecoach, cruise the Thomson River at sunset and have a stockman’s dinner around the campfire, tour historic Nogo Station to see a champion shearer at work, have a day tour to Winton to follow the dinosaur trail and much, much more.
Evening at leisure.

Day 3/ Thursday, 6th July 2017 – (B)
Gourmet Breakfast Hamper provided in your room for self-catering breakfast.
You’ll be picked up from your accommodation for a town tour of Longreach then on to the Kinnon’s historic Nogo Station to experience a working cattle and sheep property. Hear all about the pioneering lifestyle, see a champion sheep shearer at work and then be welcomed to the homestead for a wonderful ‘smoko’ – an impressive spread of country baking.
Transfer to the Qantas Founders Museum where your entry is included. Take your time to enjoy the museum and a guided tour of the 747 and 707 planes. Stroll back to your accommodation across the road.

Day 4/ Friday, 7th July 2017 – (B,L,D)
Gourmet Breakfast Hamper provided in your room for self-catering breakfast.
Today’s the day for a stagecoach ride – the only place in Australia where you can experience what it’s like to gallop in a Cobb & Co stagecoach. You’ll know you’re in the outback as you head off across the common and down the old Longreach to Windorah mail route. Next up is a smoko – home-baked scones and tea outside in our courtyard cafe followed by a vintage Aussie movie and then the Harry Redford Old Time Tent Show – a totally unique mixture of heritage, legend, animal capers, improvisation and mayhem!
Enjoy lunch in the courtyard before transferring back to your accommodation.
At 4.30pm you’ll be picked up and taken to the banks of the Thomson River to board our historic paddle wheeler for a sunset cruise. The cruise is followed by a hearty stockman’s dinner around the campfire with bush poetry then the Starlight’s Spectacular Sound-and-Light Show featuring a special movie commissioned by the Kinnon’s to celebrate our legendary local hero Harry Redford. BYO drinks.

Day 5/ Saturday, 8th July 2017 – (B,L)

It’s an early start for a full day tour to Winton. Visit the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum for a guided tour of the Collection Room and Laboratory.
Take a heritage tour of Winton featuring the, historic Corfield & Fitzmaurice Building, the Willie Mae Chinese Gardens and Arnos Wall. Enjoy lunch at the historic North Gregory Hotel a few paces from the spot where ‘Waltzing Matilda’ was read in public for the first time. Then enjoy a stroll of the Main Street for a tour of the Sunset Opal Factory to hear the story of the Australian Opal. Afterwards see the Musical Fence and Diamantina Heritage Truck Museum before heading back to Longreach.

Day 6/ Sunday, 9th July 2017 – (B,D)

The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame is only a short walk from your accommodation and you’ll start the morning with Scotty’s Stories of the Past – a 1-hour tour of the Sculpture Walk. At 11:00am the Outback Stockman’s Show will amaze you with horsemanship and animal acts. Then there’s plenty of time to explore the five galleries of the museum marvelling at the achievements of the early settlers. Enjoy lunch at the museum cafe (at your own cost). Wander back to your accommodation to refresh before enjoying your Welcome Home Hotel Dinner.

Day 7/ Monday, 10th July 2017 – (B)

Pack and say goodbye to Longreach and transfer to the airport.
